Michelle Buckle - TWO4RUN - 24 hour Treadmill Challenge for Charity

30/01/12
Michelle is a Florist from Derby who is married with two children. She started running in November 2007 when she was obese and suffered numerous health scares. Despite the fact Michelle is a Type 1 diabetic and was not able to walk for long periods; she took it upon herself to change her lifestyle and possibly save her life.Michelle’s first goal was to walk ½ mile and now four years on and seven stone lighter she set herself an unbelievable task, a 24 hour treadmill run. Michelle Buckle ran for 24 hours on a treadmill in the Derby Market Place from 10pm Friday 27th January straight through to 10pm Saturday 28th January, only stopping for minor snacks, toilet and slow pace breaks. This was an incredible feat of determination and strength and there is no visible record of any other woman from the UK completing this. Add to the fact that Michelle is not an elite runner and a diabetic made this test more than momentous. All the money raised from this event will go towards the Moshi Children’s Orphanage, Cancer Research UK and Diabetes UK.
In April, Michelle will fly out to Tanzania to carry out two weeks voluntary work at the orphanage this run had raised money for.
